All the Gators needed to beat Ole Miss was to have a mediocre or better offensive game. Instead, they launched brick after brick, gave in on defense and suffered a 70-54 loss to a team that entered the day with just one conference win.

Ty'Ron Hopper has reportedly entered the transfer portal again. Last Thursday, the linebacker entered the portal, only to remove his name from the portal a little more than an hour later. 

Billy Napier has hired James Thomas Jr. as a quality control coach. In this role, Thomas will work with the cornerbacks. He worked for Maryland last season as a special teams quality control analyst.

The Gators checked in at No. 6 in Baseball America's preseason poll, which was released on Monday morning. They have now been ranked in all four preseason polls that have been released so far, including three appearances in the top-10.

Chris McClellan defied all conventional logic when he committed to the Gators when they didn't have a head coach back in November. He may have taken a bizarre path to UF, but he's enrolled now and ready to make an impact.  

The Gators used a dominant defensive effort -- they only gave up three field goals in the second half -- to defeat Vanderbilt 61-42 and get back to .500 in SEC play.

The Gators have made the crucial winning plays down the stretch two times in a row after failing to do so in their previous three SEC games. They'll look to continue that trend on Saturday when they host Vanderbilt at 1.

Billy Napier has hired Joshua Thompson as the Gators' director of football operations. He held the same position at Auburn in 2021.

Billy Napier has retained Corey Bell as part of his staff. Bell will serve as a quality control coach who will work with the running backs. Bell was the director of player personnel for the Gators in 2021. He also coached UF's secondary in 2017 under Jim McElwain. 

Billy Napier has hired Chris Couch as the Gators' GameChanger coordinator. In this role, Couch will essentially serve as a special teams analyst.
