Wide receiver Dallas Wilson had a frustrating freshman campaign, playing in just four games after suffering injuries to both of his feet throughout the season. He stepped on campus as one of Florida’s most talented receivers, but didn’t get many opportunities to showcase his skill set.
The main goal for the staff and Wilson was availability.
On Saturday against Campbell in Week 2, Wilson recorded five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown, marking his second career 100-yard receiving game and his first since his collegiate debut against Texas on Oct. 4, 2025.
“The 100 yard game felt great, but you really don’t notice you have 100 yards until the game is actually over and then people are telling you your stats. I was out there just playing, having fun,” Wilson said postgame.
Wilson had three of Florida’s 13 explosive plays in the contest, tying running back Jadan Baugh for the team high. One of those came on a 40-yard touchdown reception.
It was a scramble drill. With nobody initially open, Philo rolled to his left to escape the pressure. Keeping his eyes downfield, he found an open Wilson, who improvised by running across the field. After making the catch, Wilson received a block from tight end Luke Harpring and walked into the end zone.
“You have the concept you run, obviously, and you have the play. But it turns into a scramble drill when Aaron [Philo] starts scrambling,” Wilson said of his touchdown catch. “So I just got my guy off me, ran across the field and touchdown. Let my talent take over after that.”
It was his first touchdown of the season and his first since Oct. 11 against Texas A&M last season.
“It felt good, I’m not gonna lie. When I finally reached the endzone, I heard the crowd, all the fans erupted, and then you turn around, you see all your brothers come in and come congratulate you. It was amazing,” Wilson said.
Florida has already matched its total of 100-yard receiving games from all of last season (two), as Brown III (Week 1) and Wilson (Week 2) hit the mark in UF’s first two games.
That’s a credit to Buster Faulkner, whose offense is built around getting the ball into the hands of his explosive playmakers.
“He’s a very fast offense. He also sets all of us up for success,” Wilson said of Faulkner. “He always know how to get his players the ball, get players in space with the ball, it’s always fun with coach Buster.”
The 6-foot-3, 212-pound receiver has started and completed just five games in his collegiate career, not including the 2025 Georgia game, when he suffered an injury in the first half. In those five games, he has totaled 19 receptions for 318 yards and four touchdowns, including two 100-yard receiving performances.
“Dallas is a really talented player, man. High ceiling,” head coach Jon Sumrall said of Wilson. “Just going to continue to get better and better and better. I’m excited about where he’s headed.”
