Video: Megan Bush breaks SEC career HR record

Florida softball player Megan Bush captured sole possession of the most career home runs in Southeastern Conference history over the weekend in a series sweep of Arkansas.

The senior first baseman tied the record held by former Gator Francesca Enea in Saturday’s game in the fifth inning, and cemented her mark in Florida history in the third inning on Sunday.

Bush, who leads the SEC in home runs with 18, said she used second baseman Aja Paculba’s bat for her 61st and 62nd home runs because she has some new bats she didn’t want to use because they are not broken in yet.

GatorCountry.com caught up with Bush, and left fielder Kelsey Bruder after Sunday’s game to talk about the record, as well as head coach Tim Walton after Saturday’s game when the record was tied.

Bruder and Walton both agreed while this record is a tribute to Bush’s hard work, it is also bigger mark for the team and softball program going forward.
