Florida’s Butz in third round of ITA pre-qualifier

TULSA, Okla. – The Florida men’s tennis team had one of three players advance Saturday into the third round of pre-qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships being held at the University of Tulsa.

Freshman Andrew Butz advanced through the day’s action and has a third-round pre-qualifying match Sunday against Georgia Tech’s Dean O’Brien. Butz had a first-round bye before topping TCU’s Zach Nichols in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. He needs two wins to move into Monday’s qualifying rounds

Freshman Michael Alford picked up a first-round victory over SMU’s Mason Harell, 6-1, 6-3, before falling to Nebraska’s Benedikt Lindheim in the second round. In addition, sophomore Billy Federhofer fell in first-round action to Texas Tech’s Vitor Manzini.
