Florida struggles in second round

ATLANTA – The Florida Gators men’s golf team fell to 14th place on Monday at the United States Collegiate Championship in Atlanta. The Gators totaled 314 in the second round, which was played in poor conditions.

The Gators have a two-day total of 34-over-par 610, their worst 36-hole score of the season.

Senior Billy Horschel and junior Tim McKenney turned in the best rounds for Florida, shooting five-over par 77s. Horschel is tied for 17th with a 36-hole total of 3-over-par 147 heading into today’s final round and McKenney is tied for 47th at 9-over-par 153.

Junior Tyson Alexander and senior Toby Ragland each shot 8-over-par 80s. Alexander’s total of 154 puts him into a tie for 51st place and Ragland is in 71st place at 158.

Stanford is in first place heading into the final round with a total of 3-over-par 579. Alabama’s Bud Cauley is the individual leader at 5-under 139.

Play Tuesday begins at 11 a.m.
