The season has certainly not gone the way Jim McElwain expected it to and the fan base has been frustrated, as well as vocal about how frustrated they are. According to McElwain, some people have crossed a line where frustration has turned dark.
“There’s a lot of hate in this world and a lot of anger. And yet, it’s freedom to show it. The hard part about it is the threats against your own players, death threats to your families. The ill will that’s brought upon out there,” McElwain said Monday. “I think it’s really one of those deals that’s really a pretty good testament gong on out there nationally. There’s a lot of angry people in this business and we’re the ones that you take the shots at and that’s the way it is.”
It’s a lofty accusation to make. McElwain was asked if he would care to expound, he said “no.”
The coach was continually pressed for more details about the accusation of death threats towards him, his family and his players. Something that serious could warrant getting the police involved He said he has not notified police in regards to the death threats and finally asked to move on from the line of questioning.
