Special on the Florida Gators volleyball team GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Six decorated future Florida Gators volleyball players inked National Letters of Intent Wednesday on the first day of the 2015 fall signing period, announced by Florida head coach Mary Wise and the Gator volleyball program. The Gator Nation will welcome Morgyn GreerAllie GregoryCheyenne HuskeyDarrielle KingRachael Kramer and Mia Sokolowski to Gainesville for the 2016 campaign.   This year’s star-studded recruiting class addresses a number of needs for a Florida squad that will depart five starting seniors following the 2015 campaign.   “This class, with its talent and size, has the chance to be one of the most special groups to play here,” Wise remarked.   The signing class will expand to eight with the addition of two walk-ons, who will be announced upon their enrollment at the University of Florida for the 2016-17 academic year.   MORGYN GREER WATCH: Mary Wise on Morgyn Greer 6-3 | OH | Dripping Springs, Texas | Dripping Springs High School | Club: Austin Juniors   Greer High School Accolades

  • Played sand volleyball, varsity basketball (freshman year), was on the varsity track team at Dripping Springs and was on a competitive dance team for six years

What they’re saying about Greer: “Anticipating Morgyn coming into our program was an understatement. She did not disappoint by immediately making a strong and lasting impression. She was a four-year starter on varsity and along the way earned too many awards to list. Her senior season alone, she has been named to every all-tourney team, along with First Team Under Armour All-American honors, she was a unanimous vote for Player of the Year for the second straight season in our District. More than all the awards, Morgyn has been a great competitor and an even better leader — one who has no doubt left her mark. I am looking forward to seeing her growth and impact Florida, as they too will be blessed to have her in their program. Morgyn’s impact at Dripping Springs will not soon be forgotten and the legacy she leaves behind will be almost impossible to replicate. Wishing her nothing but the best!” — Michael Kane | Head Coach, Dripping Springs High School     ALLIE GREGORY WATCH: Mary Wise on Allie Gregory 5-6 | DS/L | Louisville, Ky. | Assumption High School | Club: KIVA   Gregory High School Accolades

Allie makes players around her better. She leads by hard work and holding herself, along with her teammates, accountable for the team’s performance. In addition to the success she has experienced, she has an unquenchable thirst to get better; constantly in the gym, grabbing a coach to serve or hit balls at her for extra reps. In addition, she is a phenomenal teammate and I feel that is as great a compliment you can pay someone competing in a team sport. She will make a great GATOR!” — Ron Kordes | Head Coach, Assumption High School     CHEYENNE HUSKEY WATCH: Mary Wise on Cheyenne Huskey 6-2 | S | Columbus, Texas | Columbus High School | Club: Texstar/Houston Skyline   Huskey High School Accolades

What they’re saying about Huskey: “Cheyenne is one of those players/athletes that every coach wants on their team. After the first day of practice, and my first day of knowing her, I knew she would be our team leader. She is a hard worker on and off the court and leads her team by example every day. Cheyenne plays with such passion and is always exciting to watch. Her ability to set a tight ball or a pass that is not great allows her to make a huge impact on matches. She has an aggressive serve, is a tremendous defender, and brings lots of power when hitting. Her leadership, personality, and love/passion for the game will be missed at Columbus next year, but I know she will bring this same passion and make exciting things happen at Florida.” — Kayley Johns | Head Coach, Columbus High School     DARRIELLE KING WATCH: Mary Wise on Darrielle King 6-3 | MB | Desoto, Texas | Desoto High School | Club: Texas Advantage Volleyball Club   King High School Accolades

  King Off the Court Notables

  • Daughter of Ingrid King
  • Mother was a scholarship track athlete in college in the shot put and discus
  • Father was a basketball player and was drafted by the NBA to the Denver Nuggets

What they’re saying about King: “When Darrielle came to the TAV program she seemed like a shy, tall, athletic player eager to learn the game.  Little did we know that behind that shy smile lurked a super competitive player not only eager to learn, but fiercely committed to competing at the highest level. Off the court, Darrielle is incredibly funny with a great sense of humor and a lot of humility. On the court the shyness goes away and the competitive beast comes out, ready to block every shot, attack at every chance and totally control the net. We have been fortunate the last few years to watch Darrielle blossom into a complete player both in high school and club — player that can dominate or change a match with a significant block or booming kills. Her net play is amazing, but her ball handling, serve receive and serve have improved by a large margin. I am truly looking forward to helping her develop this year on the TAV 18 Black and then watching her make a significant impact with the Florida Gators. I believe that Mary and the staff at Florida are the perfect fit for Darrielle both as mentors and coaches to lead her to a whole new level of volleyball.” — John Sample | Head Coach and Owner, Texas Advantage Volleyball   RACHAEL KRAMER WATCH: Mary Wise on Rachael Kramer 6-8 | MB | Phoenix, Ariz. | Desert Vista High School | Club: Aspire Volleyball Club   Kramer High School Accolades

Every day she came to practice with the desire to become a better player and the willingness to help make her teammates better players as well. Her hard work through the years led to her being at the top of every statistical category except for assists, where she was 2nd. We will truly miss her physical presence on the court at THS and the way she made all of us laugh. I cannot wait to see the amazing things she will accomplish at Florida when she is surrounded by, and challenged by athletes of her same caliber!” — Amanda Larriva | Head Coach, Tucson Magnet High School
