The 16th ranked Florida Gators (10-3) soccer team got its fourth consecutive SEC win on Sunday night against the Ole Miss Rebels (8-7). Florida won the game in rather dominating fashion, outscoring Ole Miss 3-0. It was the Gators’ eighth straight win over the Rebels.
Florida had control of possession for most of the night, as Ole Miss struggled to find much possession at all. Savannah Jordan gave the Gators an early advantage with her 11th goal of the season on an assist by Samantha Chung to give Florida a 1-0 lead.
Things were quiet for most of the half following Jordan’s score, until the 40th minute. Melanie Monteagudo assisted Pamela Begic for a header that just crept across the line for another Florida goal. With Florida’s possession advantage, Jordan put the game relatively out of reach for Ole Miss with an easy goal in the 59th minute of the game.
As she scored her 11th and 12th goals of the season, Jordan was the player of the game for Florida. She bumped her career goal total up to 77, which is the second highest in program history, only behind Abby Wambach.
The Gators had a 13-4 shot advantage over the Rebels, with an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Ten of Florida’s 13 shots game in the first half of play.
