NFL Scouting Combine to feature 10 former Gators

The NFL has officially invited 10 former Florida Gators to this year’s NFL Scouting Combine later this month.

The combine, which is held in Indianapolis, Ind., will feature the top college players heading into the 2013 NFL Draft.

Six of the 10 Gators invited were on the defensive side of the football. Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, linebacker Jon Bostic, linebacker Jelani Jenkins, safety Matt Elam, linebacker Lerentee McCray and safety Josh Evans were among those invited.

Four other Gators including running back Mike Gillislee, kicker Caleb Sturigs, tight end Jordan Reed and offensive tackle Xavier Nixon, were also invited to participate in the combine.

The 10 players invited to the combine is the highest number of Gators since 2010, when Florida also sent 10 players. It’s tied for the third most by any school.

Only Floyd and Elam are expected to be first-round picks, but several Gators are expected to go in the second and third days of the NFL Draft. Last year, only two Gators, Jaye Howard and Chris Rainey, were drafted.

The combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium and will be televised on NFL Network on Feb. 20-26.
