Muschamp finalist for Robinson award

Will Muschamp has been nominated for a coach of the year award for the second time this season after guiding the 11-1 Florida Gators to a Sugar Bowl berth.

On Monday, Muschamp — already a finalist for the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award — was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.

Muschamp is one of nine finalists, including Gary Anderson of Utah State, David Doeren of Northern Illinois, Brian Kelly of Notre Dame, Urban Meyer of Ohio State, Bill O’Brien of Penn State, David Shaw of Stanford, Bill Snyder of Kansas State and Kevin Sumlin of Texas A&M.

In one of the more dramatic turnarounds in college football this season, Muschamp helped No. 3 Florida rebound from a 7-6 campaign last year to an 11-1 record and a BCS bowl matchup against Louisville.

The winner of this award will be announced on Jan. 6 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., at the FWAA/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year reception.
