Florida Gators junior defensive end Keivonnis Davis remains hospitalized after a car hit him while he was riding a scooter on Tuesday night. Davis was taken to Shands Hospital where, according to his head coach Jim McElwain, he has already undergone a couple of surgeries. McElwain was able to visit Davis in the hospital this week.
The accident occurred Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at the corner of SW 20th Ave. and SW 38th Terrace, according to a Gainesville Police Department accident report.
“I was able to go see him. He’s… just really feel for him. He’s beat up pretty good, had a couple surgeries already,” McElwain said. “Nothing life threatening. He’s got a long road ahead.”
Davis was expected to be a contributor on the defensive line this season but is one of the nine Gators that was suspended before the season. Davis is facing two sworn complaints from the University of Florida Police Department recommending third-degree felony charges for using a stolen credit card.
In his career Davis has 31 tackles, including three for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 17 games.
