Hometown: Jacksonville

Height: 6-5

Weight: 275

Position: Offensive Line

Notable: Harkless wasn’t supposed to be a Gator. He had already packed his bags and arrived in Louisville, Kentucky, ready to join Charlie Strong’s Cardinals. Then Strong accepted the head-coaching job at Texas and Harkless had a change of heart.

He called his high school head coach and asked for advice.

The rest is history. Harkless left Louisville and enrolled at Florida the very next week. He informed Will Muschamp of his decision and even chose Florida despite the Gators not having an offensive line coach at the time.

Harkless was a key member of Trinity Christian’s offensive line and helped lead his team to a state championship on the way to being named to the 3A All-State team in Florida.

Quotable: Despite being committed and ready to enroll at Louisville, Harkless is excited about being a Gator and so is his new head coach.

“Coach Muschamp was really happy when I called him and told him that I was going to Florida. He was excited to get the call because he had been recruiting me really hard the last couple of weeks. He said that Florida got better because of me.”

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
