Harvin semifinalist for Biletnikoff Award

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida sophomore Percy Harvin (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation’s top wide receiver, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Friday. Harvin is the 11th semifinalist in Florida history, becoming the second Gator since Chad Jackson (2005) in head coach Urban Meyer’s three-year tenure.

Harvin leads the team with 34 receptions for 563 yards, equaling his total from his freshman campaign, and is averaging 16.6 yards per catch. He had a career-high 11 receptions against Ole Miss this year and tallied a three-game 100-yard receiving streak against Tennessee, Ole Miss and Auburn. Harvin is just 10 yards shy of 1,000 receiving yards in his career heading into this weekend’s game against Georgia. The dual-threat wideout has also gained 334 yards on the ground, averaging seven yards per carry and has scored five total touchdowns to date.

The field will be narrowed to three finalists in November and the winner will be selected Dec. 6 on ESPN in Orlando.
