Florida Gators move up in national polls

Coming off of a 23-0 victory against Jacksonville State, the Florida Gators have improved in the minds of pollsters.

Well, the Gators (10-1) have kept winning anyway while others ranked ahead of them — such as Oregon and Kansas State on Saturday — have lost. Florida moved up one spot to No. 6 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Oregon remained ahead of the Gators in both polls.

Florida had played the nation’s No. 1 schedule, according to the NCAA, heading into this weekend’s slate and also should make moves in the BCS Standings, which will be announced at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The Gators play Florida State, which is No. 10 in the AP Top 25, in the regular season finale at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.

In the AP, Notre Dame is the unanimous No. 1 followed by No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia, which handed the Gators their lone loss, a 17-9 defeat, on Oct. 27. Ohio State moves up two spots to No. 4 while Oregon dropped to No. 5.
