Dante Fowler Jr. cleared to enroll

The day started off with bad news for Florida fans when Venice, Fla., defensive tackle Dante Phillips was denied admission into Florida, but the Gators received good news late Monday.

St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. has been waiting to be cleared to enroll and late this afternoon he finally received the phone call he has been waiting for from Florida football coach Will Muschamp himself.

“Coach Muschamp called me and said I was cleared to enroll,” Fowler said. “I’m leaving sometime today to report. I will be rooming with Matt Jones, too.”

This is big news for Florida as Fowler Jr. is expected to compete for the back-up role at the BUCK linebacker position behind Lerentee McCray.

Now that Fowler Jr. has been cleared to enroll the Gators are now just waiting word on whether Shelby (N.C.) Crest defensive end Jonathan Bullard will be able to enroll.

Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. is the deadline for students to register for Summer B classes, so Bullard should learn his status by tomorrow afternoon.
