Lavarus Tigner recruiting for the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators had several of their commits on campus last Friday night for Friday Night Lights and it wasn’t just the 2016 commits but some 2017 commits as well.

One of the 2017 football commits that was on campus was receiver commit Lavarus Tigner (6-2, 185, Deerfield Beach, FL High), who enjoyed his extra time on campus last week.

“I love it here,” Tigner said. “Great campus, great tour and it just feels like home. I got to see more of the academics. I got to see more of the campus and see more of the school and not just the campus.”

Tigner was met by Kerry Dixon when he arrived on campus and Dixon has been sending a clear message to the Gators commit.

“I talk to Coach Dixon the most,” he said. “His message is to just keep grinding and keep working hard. He just wants me to be focused on everything.”

During Friday’s visit Tigner had a long sit down meeting with Dixon and the Gators receiver coach wished Tigner well this season.

“He talked to me about having a great season and competing hard this year,” Tigner said. “He said that he’s looking forward to having me come back up here again.”

Now that Florida has Tigner already committed, the Gators are hoping he can get one of his teammates to join them in Gainesville next year.

“We’re recruiting Cavin and he’s listening some what,” Tigner said. “I think Florida is in the mix for him. Aaron [Robinson] and I are talking to him.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Tigner seems to be solid in his decision to Florida and certainly earned his spot in the class after a solid performance during camp in June. Tigner is a quiet guy but he does do some recruiting of his own.
