The Briefing Room

Even though it’s just a month since the Florida Gators signed their 2009 recruiting class, recruiting for 2010 is already in full swing and with seven commitments already lined up, the next class is already shaping up nicely. This is the time of the year when combines are going on all over the country nearly every weekend and when the numbers come in, that’s when you see a lot of offers extended.

Once the combines begin, the real prospects emerge and the pretenders start to fall back to the pack. Combines provide accurate numbers for height and weight. When the 40 times are laser timed, that really helps, too. Obviously, more prospects will pop up on the radar over the course of the spring and summer, but most of the groundwork for this class is being laid right now.

One big thing to watch this spring, is what prospects show up for spring practice. Obviously not all of the kids interested in Florida will be able to make it, but a lot of big-time names on the Florida board will come in, and that’s always something to keep an eye on.

Now, without dragging this on any more, we will take a look at the top prospects on the board for Florida in the Class of 2010, as the board continues to expand quite a bit over the course of the spring …
