Freddie Swain sees a “plus” with the Florida Gators

Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain didn’t waste any time by showing off his passing game on Saturday as the Florida Gators accounted for 382 yards through the air and that was something that caught the eye of receivers that were in attendances as prospects.

One of those receivers that were in attendance was Freddie Swain (6-1, 174, Citra, FL North Marion) and he was impressed by the passing game that the Florida Gators showed off on Saturday night.

“It was good, it was good to see them air the ball out,” Swain said. “I could definitely see myself playing here [Florida] and catching a couple of passes here.”

When Swain was asked what stood out to him, he didn’t hesitate at all when talking about the passing game and quarterback play.

“Throwing the ball,” he said on what stood out to him. “It was up-tempo and high confidence coming from the offense. Both quarterbacks can get the ball to you. I like the way Treon [Harris] just throw to you. Not too much and not too less.”

14 total receivers caught passes in Saturday’s game and for a receiver that means the ball is being spread around and that was what Swain took away from Saturday’s big win.

“Every receiver that played caught a pass or at least caught a ball,” he said. “Most receivers caught a couple of balls so that’s good to see.”

With an announcement coming on October 29th the big play receiver has narrowed things down to four teams, but he says the home state school gives him a plus.

“Florida, USC, Tennessee, Miami and  I’m not sure who the other team is,” Swain said on what teams stood out to him. “Florida is close to home and my momma can come see me for basically every home game. That’s a plus.”

Swain is in the process now of setting up official visits and he says that three are set with another one being planned out.

“I’ve got one to USC, Tennessee and Miami set up,” Swain said on official visits. “I know USC is for the Stanford game. Most likely I will get an official in for Florida but I just haven’t set it yet.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Swain texted Gator Country immediately after the game saying the offense was “impressive” and he continued those remarks later on. Swain is definitely a top priority for the Florida Gators and the Gators are trending up.
