Recruits react to Roper

Fans and recruits have waited 25 days to find out who the new offensive coordinator would be at Florida and on Thursday the announcement of the hiring of Kurt Roper was announced.

Recruits are still doing research and learning more about Roper but GatorCountry caught up with a few prospects to get their thoughts on the hiring.

With it being the day after Christmas many prospects were unavailable for comment but we will continue to try.

Tight end Deandre Goolby (6-4, 225 Derby, KS)-“I mean I’ve never met coach Roper but he put up good numbers at Duke,” Goolsby said. “They had a good season this year so I’m definitely looking forward to learning the system with him.”

Offensive lineman Drew Sarvary (6-7, 310, Tyler, TX Tyler JC)- “I think he is a great coach and I can’t wait to play under him,” Sarvary said.

Offensive lineman David Sharpe (6-8, 275, Jacksonville, FL Providence School)- “I really don’t know him so there is really nothing I can say about him yet,” Sharpe said.

Tight end C’yontai Lewis (6-5, 212, Tuscaloosa, AL Northridge)- “I don’t know much about him yet but I’m learning about him,” Lewis said. “Everything between me and Florida are good though.”

Running back Tony James (5-9, 175, Gainesville, FL High)- “I haven’t been able to watch him so I don’t know too much about him yet,” James said.

2015 running back T.J. Simmons (6-0, 195, Lakeland, FL Christian)- “I don’t know him personally,” Simmons said. “I think Florida is going to succeed in the future under him though.”
