Recruits game schedule: Week 2

You asked for it, you got it. Running every Thursday, Gator Country will post the game schedule for each of Florida’s verbal commits so you can keep a closer eye on the future of Florida football.

On Mondays, be sure to catch our Recruiting Rewind, where we recap each prospect’s performance and announce a Recruit of the Week award for the weekend’s most outstanding performance.

Game schedule for August 30, 2013:

Philadelphia (Pa.) Germantown offensive lineman Dontae Angus

Opponent: Germantown has a bye week this week after a disappointing season opening loss.

Casper (WY.) Natrona County defensive end Taven Bryan

Opponent: Natrona County and Taven Bryan enter the season number one in Wyoming and they will travel to take on Central High.

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna defensive tackle Khairi Clark

Opponent: Chaminade Madonna doesn’t start their season until September 6th.

Miami (Fla.) Central running back Dalvin Cook

Opponent: The number one ranked Miami Central Rockets will travel to take on American Heritage lead by Georgia commit Sony Michel.

Cross City (Fla.) Dixie County cornerback Duke Dawson

Opponent: Dixie County will play host to Taylor County lead by receiver Moral Stephens. This should be a good contest for Florida commit Duke Dawson, who shut down Stephens last fall.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines offensive lineman Travaris Dorsey

Opponent: Raines will host White High School in their season opener at Raines High School on Friday night.

Davidson (N.C.) Day quarterback Will Grier

Opponent: After an opening week blowout win, Davidson Day will play host to North Raleigh Christian Academy on Friday night.

Immokalee (Fla.) High cornerback J.C. Jackson

Opponent: Immokalee will host a huge out-of-state opponent in nationally ranked Our Lady of Good Counsel from Maryland on Friday night.

Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Wando offensive lineman Nolan Kelleher

Opponent: Wando kicked off the season with a win last week and will travel to Beaufort this week to try and improve to 2-0 on the season.

Deland (Fla.) High offensive lineman Benjamin Knox

Opponent: Deland will start their season with a trip to Mainland.

Plantation (Fla.) High cornerback Chris Lammons

Opponent: Plantation will start their regular season at Dillard High School on Friday.

Homestead (Fla.) High receiver Ermon Lane

Opponent: Homestead will travel to Boyd Anderson to try and right the ship after a tough opening week loss to University School last week.

Tuscaloosa (Al.) Kingwood Christian tight end C’yontai Lewis

Opponent: Kingwood won their opening game in dominating fashion and travel this week to take on Hooper Academy.

Clearwater (Fla.) Central Catholic defensive end Justus Reed

Opponent: Central Catholic will travel to Naples to take on Lely High School in their regular season opener.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University cornerback Quincy Wilson

Opponent: University School opened up the season in great fashion by dominating Homestead and this week will travel to take on Taravella.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting. After interning with Rivals for six months, he joined the Gator Country family as a recruiting analyst.
