Recruiting Notebook

GatorCountry.com has been full of recruiting news over the past week and today we have a jam packed recruiting notebook to recap all the action for you.

Will Muschamp Football Camps:

The spring evaluation has concluded as the Gator coaches saw prospects from all over the country, many of which they visited twice.

With that in the past the coaching staff will now turn their attention to summer football camps that start on Saturday and conclude on June 15th.

While most of the players in attendance at camp are guys that aren’t on Florida’s radar, several top prospects will come through town.

Most of the top targets that come to Gainesville will not participate in camps but instead will take the usual campus tour and meet with the coaches.

Prospects narrowing it down:

Washington DC Friendship Collegiate Academy cornerback Jalen Tabor released his top 5 on Wednesday morning.

Here is the 6-foot-1, 186-pound Tabor’s top 5-Florida, Maryland, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Florida State.

Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith defensive tackle Andrew Brown released his top 5 to recruit 757.com on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 298-pound Brown is down to Virginia Tech, Clemson, Ohio State, Florida and Florida State. This is a little surprising as most including myself thought Brown was headed to Virginia.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School cornerback Quincy Wilson has narrowed down his list of schools to the unlucky 13.

Here is the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Wilson’s top 13 in no order-Georgia, South Carolina, UCLA, USC, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, North Carolina State, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Louisville and Vanderbilt.

Plantation (Fla.) High cornerback Chris Lammons released his top 15 on Tuesday night but in no order.

Here is the 5-foot-9, 168-pound Lammons top 15- South Carolina, Oregon, Florida, Miami, Arkansas, West Virginia, LSU, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State, UCF, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Indiana and Kentucky.

McCalla (Al.) McAdory defensive end Cory Thomas released his top 5 schools on Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5, 272-pound Thomas’s final five schools are Mississippi State, Miami, Florida, Florida State and Tennessee.

2015 Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast linebacker Sherrod Pittman tweeted out his top 11 this past weekend. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Pittman also said that he knew Florida, Louisville and South Carolina would be in his top 5.

Here is Pittman’s top 11- Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, South Carolina, USF and Florida State.

2015 Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake receiver George Campbell also tweeted his top 10.

Here is the 6-foot-5, 198-pound Campbell’s top 10-Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M, UCF and Vanderbilt.

Rivals Camp:

Several of Florida’s top targets will head to Chicago this weekend to participate in the Rivals Five Star Challenge at Soldier Field.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.
