Prospects reaction: UF 37, FSU 26

Florida defeated Florida State 37-26 in Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday in an in-state rivalry game with national implications.

Several prospects were in attendance, and the ones that weren’t were most likely watching on TV from their homes.

GatorCountry.com texted several players to get their thoughts on the Gators’ big win against Florida State. Here are there replies:

2013 prospects:

Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy quarterback Max Staver — “Hell a win!!!! Good stuff I love my school.”

Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Day running back Kelvin Taylor — “Oline did a great job also the coaches.”

Dade City (Fla.) Pasco defensive lineman Joey Ivie — “Gators stepped it up in the fourth quarter. We performed very well and it’s great to be a Gator. Can’t wait to suit up.”

Delray (Fla.) American Heritage offensive lineman Rod Johnson — “It was a great game they really played up to their expectations.”

Canton (Mich.) High offensive lineman Cameron Dillard — “That was a great game! Hard tough nose fought game. Glad to see Florida take back the state. Lol”

Avon (Fla.) High defensive end Elijah Daniel — “I was happy that they had won.”

Clearwater (Fla.) Countryside offensive lineman Tyler Moore — “It’s awesome.”

2014 prospects:

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas receiver Corey Holmes — “With the win tonight, it’s clear that Florida is one of the elite teams in the country. For Florida to run all over a great run defense in Florida State was very impressive.”

Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Northridge running back Bo Scarborough — “I think that was a big win for Florida tonight for beating the in-state team it may be putting them in something special.”

Cross City (Fla.) Dixie County cornerback Duke Dawson — “ It was a hard fighting game, the Gators never gave up.”

Gainesville (Fla.) High running back Tony James — “Great one nothing better than winning on the road against a big rival school.”

Marietta (Ga.) Walton cornerback DJ Smith — “It was a great win for them. Really fun game to watch.”

West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer receiver Johnnie Dixon — “Big win. Guys really played hard.”

Carmel (Ind.) High receiver Austin Roberts — “I’m really gonna watch the Notre Dame game now tonight. GO GATORS!”

Wellington (Fla.) Palm Beach Central offensive lineman K.C. McDermott — “Great win.”

Lithonia (Ga.) Martin Luther King cornerback Wesley Green— “It was a really good game. But to be honest not really surprise by the outcome.”

Blackshear (Ga.) Pierce County quarterback Tyler Harris — “It was a big win for them. They played really well all season and have been rewarded if things go their way they could be in the national championship game so they have put themselves in a great spot.”

Crestview (Fla.) High defensive end Denzel Ware — “Thought that Florida defense was great. Like the work of Easley.”

2015 prospects:

Orlando (Fla.) Timber Creek running back Jacques Patrick — “They ran the ball great and played great defense. GO GATORS!”
