Miami Hurricane commit enjoys Florida Gator visit

Two weeks ago the Florida Gators played host to 2017 Miami Hurricanes offensive line commit Kadeem Telfort (6-6, 323, Miami, FL Norland) when his team came to Gainesville for a team camp.

“It was great, it was an awesome time,” Telfort said. “The camp was great, I learned a lot of techniques and how to be more explosive and stuff like that. It was a good experience working with Coach [Mike] Summers.”

Offensive line coach Mike Summers is talked about a lot for his demeanor on the field and that was something that impressed Telfort last week.

“Coach Summers is a cool coach to work with,” he said. “He understands how to coach and when you make a mistake he just helps you out. He’s a very calm coach that teaches you.”

Summers has impressed Telfort during his recruitment and on his visit the Gators coach talked to Telfort a lot.

“At first he was talking to me and he was like if you want to impress me then I want you to be in the first group,” Telfort said. “When I got out there I was in the first group and he said that I impressed him a lot and that he wants me at Florida.”

Head coach Jim McElwain has been recruiting Telfort over the last few months and during Telfort’s visit McElwain delivered a strong message to him.

“Coach McElwain said that I will be a Gator and that I just don’t know it yet,” Telfort said. “He was the coach that offered me a few weeks back and he was telling me that he wants me to be a Gator and that he wants the Swamp to be my house for my career.”

Telfort committed to the Canes when they offered earlier this year but Florida is a school that has attention now.

“Getting the Florida offer means a lot and they will definitely be in my top five,” Telfort said. “I’m still considering Florida a lot and my teammate Vosean [Joseph] is recruiting me hard. He tells me that we might as well be a package deal and go up there together so that we know each other.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Telfort is going to be one of the top guys in the class of 2017 at his position and the Florida Gators are doing a good job of getting in the mix with the big offensive lineman. Telfort will likely visit Florida more with Vosean Joseph already committed.
