Jason Pughe’s Reel Recruiting, Volume 2: 8/28/08

Welcome back to another edition of “Reel Recruiting”, where we provide tidbits and video on the top Gator prospects. Since the last edition not a lot has changed, but I receiveda few nuggets to share with you. The Gators open their season with Hawaii Saturday but the date most top recruits are circling is September 6, when the Miami Hurricanes roll into The Swamp. The visit list for Miami is already shaping up to be an all-star group. We’ll get to that later, but for now here’s a look at what’s going on currently for the 2009 class.

THE RUNDOWN:

QUARTERBACKS: There haven’t been a whole lot of changes at the quarterback position but the fact remains that Denard Robinson (6-0, 176, Deerfield Beach, FL) is the top QB left on the board. Not only is he the top quarterback, but he’s one of the top prospects in the whole class left on the board. Robinson recently was offered by Miami but not at the quarterback position. Florida continues to recruit Robinson at quarterback because that’s what he wants to play in college. I believe Florida gets Robinson in the end and Florida is done with quarterbacks for 2009 and 2010. Robinson should get a good look of both teams when he visits next Saturday for when Florida plays Miami.

RUNNING BACKS: Nothing has changed at the ruinning back position with Trent Richardson (5-11, 215 Pensacola, FL Escambia) and Jaamal Berry (5-11, 190, Miami, FL Palmetto) as the top prospects. However, the running back class in 2010 is extremely loaded with Florida guys like…
