High school preview: Week 14

Every Thursday Gator Country will run a high school preview featuring all of the Gators’ prospects who are currently verbally committed, as well as a few of Florida’s biggest targets.
All games are on Friday unless otherwise noted.

North Marion vs. Pasco – Florida commit Latroy Pittman looks to lead North Marion into the third round of the playoffs but ther Colts will have their hands full against a 10-0 Pasco team. North Marion enters the game with a 9-2 record.

Hillsborough vs. Armwood – Armwood enters the game with a 11-0 record as they survived a scare in the first round of the playoffs. Florida commit Matt Jones will look to lead Armwood into the third round of the playoffs against the 9-2 Hillsborough team.

Venice vs. Manatee – Venice will look to avenge its only of the season in a rematch against Manatee. Venice enters the game with a 9-1 record led by Gators commit Dante Phillips.

Sandy Creek (Ga.) vs. Gainesville (Ga.) – Sandy Creek plans to push its winning streak to 42 straight wins with a win. UF pledge Quinteze Williams will look to lead Sandy Creek into the semi finals of the playoffs with a win.

Mallard Creek (N.C.) vs. Page (N.C.) – Florida commit DJ Humphries has led Mallard Creek into the semi finals in North Carolina by guiding the offense for Mallard Creek. With a win Mallard Creek would advance to the state championship.

Crest (N.C.) vs. Charlotte Catholic (N.C.) – Crest has advance to the semi finals of the playoffs as they won a close game last week. Florida commit Rhaheim Ledbetter has been on a roll offensively and defense for Crest as he scored two touchdowns in last week’s win.

Bolingbrook (Ill.) vs. Loyola Academy (Ill.) (Sat.) – This is the state championship for Illinois and if Bolingbrook is going to win it will have to do so without star linebacker and Florida commit Antonio Morrison as he is out with a broken foot.

Archbishop Wood (Pa.) will play next weekend in the second round of the playoffs.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting. After interning with Rivals for six months, he joined the Gator Country family as a recruiting analyst.
