Higgins previews Florida Gators visit and message from Florida

This coming weekend the Florida Gators will host dozens of prospects on campus for the LSU game and several of them will be official visitors.

One of the official visitors this weekend will be receiver Elijah Higgins (6-3, 214, Austin, TX. Bowie) who says he talks to the Gators coaching staff a lot including head coach Dan Mullen.

“I talk to Coach [Brian] Johnson probably on a regular basis,” Higgins said on his talks with Florida. “I talk to Coach [Billy] Gonzales probably 5 to 6 times a week and I talk to Coach Mullen probably 2 or 3 times a week. It’s a really good relationship with them.”

Mullen talks to Higgins about several things including just how big of a need he is to the Gators 2019 class.

“There’s nothing really in particular he just wants me as a receiver there,” he said on the message from Mullen. “He tells me that there’s definitely room for me to come in an make an impact on the team and the receiver room. That’s really the main message to me.”

Higgins hasn’t been on campus in Gainesville this fall to watch a game but he has been watching a few of the Gators’ games on TV and he likes what he’s seeing from Mullen’s team.

“I haven’t watched them to much and I didn’t get to watch last week’s game,” Higgins said on his thoughts on the team so far. “But I got to watch the previous game and from watching them play from the first week to the last game, I can really see how they’re developing and growing. You can definitely see the impact that Coach Mullen has had on the team and the goals he has for them.”

The Texas native last visited Gainesville in the summer so this visit will be a little different for him and Higgins knows exactly what he’s looking to get out of this official visit to Florida.

“Just really get around the game day atmosphere,” he said on what he wants to see during his official visit. “That’s something that I didn’t get to experience because I visited in the summer. I want to spend some times with the players and things like that.”

Higgins is no stranger to Florida however as he has several family members living in the state and that’s something on his mind.

“Obviously Florida being close to family is in my head,” Higgins said on his interest in Florida. “Florida is definitely a big school that I’m considering.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Higgins says he doesn’t have any more visits set at this time as he’s just going with the flow as far as visits go.
