Gorman a Gator

ST. PETERSBURG — Four-star safety Jabari Gorman (6-0/180, Miami/Monsignor Pace) announced that he will attend the University of Florida during the Under Armour All-America game Wednesday night.

Gorman, who is ranked as the No. 8 safety and the No. 85 player overall by ESPNU, selected the Gators over Miami and Ohio State. He joins QB Jeff Driskel, WR Ju’Juan Story, WR De’Ante “Pop” Saunders, and TE A.C. Leonard as other Florida commits who are participating in the game.

Running backs coach Stan Drayton was the primary recruiter for Gorman, and according to him coach Drayton was a big reason he chose Florida.

“Yeah I am real close with coach Drayton, throughout this process he has given me a lot of advice on how things will go” Gorman said.

“I am excited that he is staying on the Florida coaching staff.”

The lack of depth at safety for Florida also played a role for Gorman, “I like the opportunity to play early at Florida and they are just a great football team.”

Gorman becomes the 16th commit for the 2011 recruiting class which is currently ranked No. 4 by ESPNU.
