Florida Gators want Marco Wilson in Gainesville

Florida Gators fans have been able to watch cornerback Quincy Wilson play the last year and a half and the Gators are now recruiting another member of the Wilson family to Gainesville.

2017 cornerback Marco Wilson (5-11, 163, Plantation, FL American Heritage) has an offer from Florida and he was on campus at Florida on Monday.

“It was great, I loved it,” Wilson said of his Florida visit. “We just walked around the facilities, walked around the field and then went and saw the new indoor that is being built. That looked nice.”

Head coach Jim McElwain has made no secret that he likes Wilson’s game a lot and he relayed that message to Wilson on Monday.

“Coach McElwain just explained that he really likes me and he wants me at Florida,” he said of McElwain’s message. “He just kept telling me that he wants me to be at Florida.”

Cornerbacks has also been playing a big part in Wilson’s recruitment and he was giving Wilson a lot to think about on Monday.

“I really like Coach Callahan,” Wilson said. “He’s a really cool guy and he knows what he’s doing with the position. He’s a good coach too. Coach Callahan has been telling me that I would be a good fit at Florida and that the way he sets up his rotation it sets up well for young players to come in and play. He thinks I can make an impact.”

Wilson was around the previous staff at Florida a lot but he’s starting to get a better feel for the new staff and he likes what he has seen so far.

“I really like the coaching staff even though I still have some things to find out about them,” he said. “So far though I really like them, and they seem like they are ready to take on the season and have a good season.”

The American Heritage players visited Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia and Tennessee during a weeklong tour, but the Florida visit was a good one according to Wilson.

“This visit was probably one of my favorites out of all of my visit,” Wilson said. “I don’t have any leaders at this time though.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Wilson likes the Florida Gators a lot and his brother Quincy is helping the Gators out here but I don’t look for the younger Wilson to make a decision anytime soon.
