Saturday was the last day for Will Muschamp’s football camp and the Gator coaching staff handed out several offers.
One of those offers was to Cocoa (Fla.) High cornerback Jamel Dean, who picked up his fifth offer on Saturday.
“I had a good camp on Saturday working with coach (Travaris) Robinson and coach (Will) Muschamp,” Dean said. “They told me an offer was coming soon and then they offered me. They told me that I impressed them a lot at camp. I’m really happy about getting the offer from Florida and it’s a big one to have.”
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Dean spent most of his time working out with cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson. Dean said he had a ton of fun working with Robinson.
“He is a fun coach but a good coach,” Dean said. “I like him a lot and he taught me some techniques to do to help me with my coverages. I learned a lot from him in just a little time on Saturday, he has a really good coaching style and is easy to understand because he is laid back when teaching.”
For Dean, who holds offers from Ohio State, Miami, Mississippi State and Temple, this Florida offer was a special one.
“I grew up a Florida fan as a kid,” Dean said. “I have always liked Florida and they have a good coaching staff that is really dedicated to helping their players improve and get better. I hope to visit Florida for a game this fall.”
