Florida interested in Alabama running back?

Florida has already landed a commitment from the tough state of Alabama in tight end C’yontia Lewis.

Now the Gators are starting to pursue another one in Oxford (Al.) High running back Racean Thomas.

“Coach (Brian) White told me to give him a call soon,” Thomas said. “He said he wants me to give him a call so that he can offer me over the phone.”

Right now the 5-foot-11, 198-pound Thomas says he has no leader but if the Gators offer, he will definitely listen.

“I would seriously consider them if I get the offer,” Thomas said. “I would start to contact them and follow them on Twitter because they can direct message me on there. I would start to evaluate them and see what kind of plays they run and how many backs they have, stuff like that.”

Thomas’ roommate at the Opening happens to be a Florida commit.

“Me and Dalvin Cook are roommates out here,” Thomas said. “So he is trying to sway me towards Florida. With him already committed, I’m not worried about the depth chart or anything like that at Florida.”

For Thomas, he has yet to visit Florida but says that he is going to try and visit for Friday Night Lights in July.

For now, Thomas is just enjoying his time out in Oregon competing, even though at running he doesn’t get a lot of action at the running back position.

“There is a lot of competition and good players out here,” Thomas said. “95% of the guys out here have offers. For me as a running back, my job is basically to help get the other guys open on offense.”
