Florida Gators: Friday Night Frenzy Recap Week 5

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.
Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.
This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

High School Recap

Linebacker Jerome Baker (6-1, 206, Cleveland, OH Benedictine)
Result: Benedictine defeated Holy Name 45-7 on Saturday night.
Stats: Baker did not play due to a leg injury.
Notes: I’m told that this isn’t a serious injury and that Baker should be back soon.

Offensive Lineman George Brown (6-6, 264, Cincinnati, OH Winton Woods)
Result: Winton Woods lost to Thurgood Marshall 39-35 on Friday.
Stats: N/A
Notes: This is the second straight lost for Winton Woods and Brown on Friday.

Receiver Derrick Dillon (5-11, 175, Franklinton, LA Pine)
Result: Pine lost to Bogalusa 39-14 on Friday for its loss of the season.
Stats: Dillon’s stats weren’t available as of Sunday night.
Notes: Dillon had 326 yards rushing and four touchdowns, while throwing for 251 yards and four touchdowns heading into this game.

Offensive lineman Michael Horton 6-4, 320, Atlanta, GA Lakeside)
Result: Lakeside lost to Dunwoody 21-17 on Friday.
Stats: N/A
Notes: Lakeside dropped to 2-3 on the year following Friday’s loss.

Defensive end Andrew Ivie (6-3, 285, Dade City, FL Pasco)
Result: Pasco had a bye this week
Stats: N/A
Notes: Ivie has 21 tackles, 4 sacks and one caused fumble this year. Ivie also has a safety this year.

Tight end Kalif Jackson (6-4, 202, Neptune Beach, FL Fletcher)
Result: Fletcher had a bye this week
Stats: N/A
Notes: Jackson should be fully recovered from his knee injury after the off week.

Quarterback Sheriron Jones (6-2, 189, Moreno Valley, CA Rancho Verde)
Result: Rancho Verde lost to Redlands East Valley 35-19 for its first loss of the year.
Stats: Jones went 10 of 21 for 158 yards with two interceptions. Jones also had 48 yards on the grounds and two rushing touchdowns.
Notes: Jones is now 53-84 for 990 yards and 10 touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Jones also has two interceptions on the year.

Offensive lineman Tyler Jordan (6-5, 270, Jacksonville, FL Bishop Kenny)
Result: Bishop Kenny defeated Wolfson 41-0 on Friday.
Stats: N/A
Notes: This was Bishop Kenny’s first game in three weeks.

Tight End Camrin Knight (6-4, 220, Tallahassee, FL Lincoln)
Result: Lincoln had a bye this week.
Stats: N/A
Notes: Knight has 6 catches for 67 yards this year.

Offensive Lineman Brandon Sandifer (6-3, 332, Warner Robins, GA Northside)
Result: Northside lost to Jones County 45-37 on Friday night.
Stats: N/A
Notes: Sandifer visited Alabama on Saturday afternoon.

Linebacker Adonis Thomas (6-3, 219, Lawrenceville, GA Central Gwinnett)
Result: Central Gwinnett defeated Shiloh 44-0 on Friday night.
Stats: N/A
Notes: Thomas has 36 tackles, 2 sacks and a fumble recovery on the year.

Andrew Spivey
Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting. After interning with Rivals for six months, he joined the Gator Country family as a recruiting analyst.
