Florida Gators: Friday Night Frenzy Recap Week 12

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

 

High School Recap

Offensive Lineman George Brown (6-6, 264, Cincinnati, OH Winton Woods)

Result: Winton Woods is finished with its season with a 5-4 record.

Notes: George Brown continues to remain solid to Florida and will visit Florida this weekend.

 

Receiver Derrick Dillon (5-11, 175, Franklinton, LA Pine)

Result: Pine lost to St. Helena Central 36-21 on Friday.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Dillon has over 1,000 yards passing for 11 touchdowns and also has over 1,000 yards rushing and another 12 touchdowns.

 

Offensive lineman Michael Horton 6-4, 320, Atlanta, GA Lakeside)

Result: Lakeside lost to Tucker 45-21 on Friday night.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Horton is expected to visit Florida on Saturday.

 

Defensive end Andrew Ivie (6-3, 285, Dade City, FL Pasco)

Result: Pasco lost River Ridge 28-25 on Friday night.

Stats: Ivie had five tackles in the loss

Notes: Ivie has 59 tackles, 5 sacks and one caused fumble this year. Ivie also has a safety this year.

  

Tight end Kalif Jackson (6-4, 202, Neptune Beach, FL Fletcher)

Result: Fletcher defeated Wolfson 41-6 on Friday night.

Stats: Jackson had one catch for 8 yards in the loss.

Notes: Jackson now has 22 catches for 415 yards and seven touchdowns.

 

Quarterback Sheriron Jones (6-2, 189, Moreno Valley, CA Rancho Verde)

Result: Rancho Verde defeated Arlington 28-7 on Friday night.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Jones is now 76-114 for 1,454 yards and 15 touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Jones also has two interceptions on the year.

 

Offensive lineman Tyler Jordan (6-5, 270, Jacksonville, FL Bishop Kenny)

Result: Bishop Kenny defeated Episcopal School of Jacksonville 31-14.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Bishop Kenny won its district championship last week.

 

Tight End Camrin Knight (6-4, 220, Tallahassee, FL Lincoln)

Result: Lincoln lost to Godby 22-17 on Friday night.

Stats: Knight didn’t have a catch in the loss.

Notes: Knight has 11 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown this year.

 

Offensive Lineman Brandon Sandifer (6-3, 332, Warner Robins, GA Northside)

Result: Northside defeated Houston County 34-33 on Friday night.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Sandifer and Northside are on a six game winning streak.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.   1. Andrew, how do you see this class shaping up? Besides the names weve been hearing, like ce-ce and byron, are there any other top tier recruits that could start looking more seriously at UF?…. if we continue progress with Treon at the helm and our D playing strong as usual.

    • Receiver Van Jefferson who is committed to Georgia and Clemson receiver commit Deon Cain are the two names that Florida is recruiting hard and trying to sell that Treon Harris is the answer to the offense.
