Collins still interested in the Gators

Florida already has Kelvin Taylor on campus and Adam Lane verbally committed to sign on Feb. 6 for the Class of 2013.

Still, the Gators’ coaching staff is looking to add a third running back to this class and visited the top target on Wednesday.

Florida running backs coach Brian White visited Plantation (Fla.) South Plantation running back Alex Collins at his school Wednesday afternoon.

“Coach (Brian) White stopped by school today,” Collins said. “The visit went great. It was good to catch back up with him and I’m glad the Gators are still interested in me.”

The 5-foot-11, 207-pound Collins visited Florida officially on Dec. 14. It seemed like Collins cooled on the Gators after that, but that isn’t the case.

“I’m very interested in Florida,” Collins said. “And I made sure to let coach White know that today when he was visiting me.”

Collins will head to Arkansas this weekend for his last official visit before making a decision on national signing day.
