Sam Bruce comparing Florida Gators to Miami at this point

The Florida Gators played host to Miami Hurricanes commit Sam Bruce (5-8, 179, Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas) on Saturday night and he saw exactly what he came to Gainesville looking for.”

“The game went great,” Bruce said. “I really feel like they threw the ball around a lot, they put up a lot of points and that’s definitely what I can up to see tonight [Saturday night] from them.”

The offense was a huge improvement over last year’s offense and it kind of took Bruce off guard, but he was glad to see his good friend get in the endzone in his first game in the Florida Gators uniform.

“I didn’t expect them to look this good actually,” he said on if he expected this. “They looked very good. My boy Jordan Scarlett got in the endzone tonight [Saturday night] so I’m really satisfied with them.”

Bruce is a highlight reel on the field and he was able to see how the Florida Gators used their slot receiver in Jim McElwain offense and that was something that Bruce liked.

“This helped a lot,” Bruce said on if this visit helped Florida. “It gave me a little insight on what I need to look at and, I mean, that’s pretty much it. They definitely showed me ways I could be used. Brandon Powell is an electrifying player and I definitely feel like I could fill his spot.”

Bruce still considers himself to be a Miami Hurricanes commit, but he says that right now it’s all about comparing things.

“At this point I guess you could say that,” Bruce said on if he’s comparing Florida and Miami. “As of now I’m still committed to Miami. I plan to be back up here [Florida] for the Tennessee game.”

Ben Hill Griffin stadium was loud and packed on Saturday and that caught Bruce’s attention.

“Really I’m going to college to get my education and play my heart out on the field,” he said. “It was nice atmosphere and of course who doesn’t like playing in front of 90,000 people.”

Not only are the Florida Gators coaching staff recruiting Bruce hard but teammate Jake Allen and a current Florida Gator Jordan Scarlett are as well.

“It was great to have someone from the same town I come from and the same high school,” Bruce said of having Jake Allen there with him. “He’s committed here and he’s on me everyday about Florida. Jordan is on me more though.”

The first thing Bruce was able to see on Saturday was the Florida Gators’ new indoor practice facility and he was amazed by it.

“The indoor was beautiful, that was the first thing I saw when I got here. They took me over there on the cart and it’s a great facility. I could definitely imagine myself playing in there.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Bruce will continue to be a regular visitor in Gainesville and the Florida Gators just have to continue to show that he can be a playmaker in their offense.
