On Tuesday the Gators extended an offer to 2015 Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes defensive end D’Andre Walker.
“My coach told me after practice yesterday that Florida offered me,” Walker said. “He told me that coach (Will) Muschamp wanted me to call him tomorrow to talk more about the offer and to introduce myself to him.”
For the 6-foot-2, 203-pound Walker he doesn’t know much about Florida at this time but he thinks that will change after he talks with Muschamp.
“Having a Florida offer is a big one for me to have,” Walker said. “I’m trying to learn more about Florida and I’m going to do some research and write down some questions so when I talk to coach Muschamp, I can ask him those questions and see what the answers are. I want to know about the academics and how he wants to use me on the field.”
Walker holds nine offers already and the message from each of the coaches have been pretty much the same.
“They all tell me that they want me at outside linebacker more than defensive end,” Walker said. “They all tell me that they like my strength and my speed rush. I think I can improve on my footwork and my use of my hands. I have offers from both schools that run the 3-4 and the 4-3 so it doesn’t matter which defense the school runs.”
For Walker, he knows he will visit both Florida and Texas this summer and he is trying to schedule more visits.
