Mike White landed one of the top transfers available on Monday when he secured a commitment from former Charleston Southern guard Phlandrous Fleming Jr.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound combo guard was a stat-sheet stuffer for the Buccaneers. In 2020-21, he averaged 20.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He shot 39.5 percent from the field, though just 32 percent from deep. He shot 80.6 percent from the free throw line.
As a sophomore in 2019-20, he averaged 17.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting a career-best 43.4 percent. He averaged 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as a freshman in 2018-19.
The battle for Fleming Jr.’s services was thought to be down to Virginia and Georgia, but White and co. were able to swoop him away at the last minute. He’ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Florida.

Fleming Jr. joins Brandon McKissic (UMKC), CJ Felder (Boston College) and Myreon Jones (Penn State) as transfers into the program.
The Gators still have one scholarship open for the 2021-22 team, though that number will increase if Colin Castleton stays in the NBA Draft or if Keyontae Johnson is unable to resume his career.
