After blowing through their first six SEC games with an average margin of victory of 26.5 points, the Florida Gators received some major love from both The Associated Press Top 25 ranking and USA Today Coaches Poll on Monday.
The Gators were able to slide up three spots in the AP rankings and four places in the Coaches’ Poll to No. 4 in the nation, following the losses of several teams in front of them last week.
Not only does the top-5 ranking in both polls signify Florida’s highest ranking this season, it also marks the highest ranking for the UF basketball program since 2007.
Both polls had different teams at No. 1 this week with Michigan getting its first No. 1 ranking since the 1992-93 season in the AP poll, while Kansas took the top slot in the coaches’ rankings.
The Gators not only managed to gain ground in the polls, but they also received a slight bump in the RPI rankings up one spot to No. 5 this week.
Florida’s next game will be at home against South Carolina on Wednesday.
