Florida Gators basketball offer 2018 center Castleton

2018 big man Colin Castleton from Father Lopez Catholic in Daytona Beach has been one of the breakout performers from this past travel season. Offers have been coming in at a high rate throughout the spring and summer due to his consistent production. The most recent offer comes from the home state Florida Gators basketball program. Castleton caught up with Gatorcountry.com to talk about the offer.

Castleton is a versatile player who has an impressive skillset. The 6’11 220-pound big man presents matchup problems due to his shooting ability and improving ball handling. Castleton also causes havoc around the rim on defense due to his shot blocking ability. Castleton is continuing to work on his craft so he can be a position less player in college.

“I stretch the floor with being able to shoot the ball and also put it on the floor and handle it for sure,” he said.” By the time I get to college I’m going to hit the weight room and add strength so I can be position less in college.”

The Florida Gators have been recruiting the local prospect for a while now and extended an offer to Castleton on Wednesday. Florida is a program that he respects and is familiar with due to his Florida roots.

“Getting the offer it feels good, but I’m still building a relationship with the coaching staff and can’t wait for the official visit,” Castleton said. “It means a lot because they’re a great program and are on their way up for sure.”

Castleton will take official visits to Illinois(Sept.1-3) and Purdue(Sept. 29-1) before his official visit to the Florida Gators(Oct. 13-15).
