CJ Walker talks AAU Season and Florida Gators

CJ Walker is one of the top talents in the 2019 class. He is a tremendous athlete who has a high motor and is very versatile. Walker has great length and has a good feel for the game. GatorCountry.com caught up with Walker to discuss his AAU season and his recruiting process.

The open court is where Walker thrives. He is a menace in transition that finishes strong at the rim.

“I think one my main strengths is my athleticism and using it on both offense and defense,” Walker said. “I have a high motor and I’m an up tempo type of player. I look to improve in the half court set and on the perimeter before college.”

Walker started the spring playing for E1T1 but has recently switched to Game Elite.

“It was a move that me, my parents, and my coach thought would be the best decision,” he said. “It just made sense to go there. The AAU sessions have gone great. I’ve gotten a couple offers and interests since AAU has started.”

The in state Florida Gators are among the teams that have offered Walker. The strong fan base of the Gators has impressed Walker.

“They have been to many of my games,” Walker said of the Florida coaching staff. “The coaching staff seems very down to earth and are some great coaches. I like their fans, They have a great fan base. They play up tempo and that’s how I like to play.

Louisville, FSU, Florida, LSU, Georgia Tech, UCF, and Virginia Tech are some of the schools that have offered Walker. Kansas and Maryland are some of the more recent schools that have expressed interest in the versatile forward.

Walker has high hopes for the upcoming season at Orlando Christian Prep.

“I want to focus on getting us as far as we can this season and hopefully we will be fortunate enough to get another ring. I want to double my numbers and try to average a double double.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Walker is a great athlete who will be a name we hear thrown around as one of the best in his class. Walker’s teammate in the 2018 Nassir Little is a priority for the Gators, so Florida has been around OCP and have seen Walkers talent. I believe that Walker will be an important target for the 2019 Florida recruiting class.
