Castleton named to Abdul-Jabbar watch list

UF senior forward Colin Castleton has been selected as one of 20 members of the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watch list, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Friday.

Castleton was previously selected as a Preseason First Team All-SEC member by the media.

He averaged 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game last season, his first in a Florida uniform after he transferred in from Michigan. He was voted to the Coaches’ All-SEC Second Team following the season.

He also established himself as one of the top shot-blockers in the league, swatting away 2.25 shots per game, one of the five best single-season marks in program history. He blocked eight shots in a game against Ole Miss.

The Abdul-Jabbar Award honors the top center in men’s college basketball and is in its eighth year.
The watch list will be narrowed to 10 players in late January. The five finalists will be announced in late February. The winner will be selected in March. Players can play their way onto or off of the watch list at any point during the season.
