Castleton named SEC Player of the Week

Florida forward Colin Castleton has been named the inaugural SEC Player of the Week for the 2021-22 season.

The preseason First Team All-SEC selection is off to a hot start this season.

He opened the year with 18 points, six blocked shots and a career-best four assists against Elon. He followed that up by scoring 15 points, hauling down 16 rebounds and swatting six shots against Florida State, one of the tallest teams in the country.

He joined Joakim Noah as only the second Gator since 1996 to score 15-plus points, grab 15-plus rebounds and block five-plus shots in a single game.

This was his third career SEC Player of the Week honor, as he won the award twice last year.

Castleton and the No. 24 Gators are back in action on Thursday night against Milwaukee.
