Billy shows Harris the door

Last week the Gators received big news when former University of South Florida center John Egbunu announced that he was transferring to Florida but it also created a small problem.

That problem was that the Gators didn’t have an open scholarship for Egbunu and meant that someone on the team was either transferring or losing his scholarship.

On Wednesday we found our answer as CBS Sports reporter Jon Rothstein reported (and Florida confirmed) that center Damontre Harris was leaving the program, which to many is no surprise.

Harris transferred into Florida from South Carolina but was suspended for the year last year due to off the court issues including missing practices.

With Harris now off the team and Egbunu not eligible to participate until the 2015-2016 season the addition of Michigan transfer Jon Horford looms large.

Stay tuned to GatorCountry.com as Billy Donovan will meet with the media on Thursday to discuss the recent news as well as talk about the upcoming offseason for his team.
