2024 Target John Bol To Make Decision Saturday

Following news of a major transfer portal addition in Zyon Pullin the Gators will now shift their focus to high school recruiting with one of their top 2024 targets set to make his announcement.

John Bol is a player that the Gators have prioritized ever since the staff got to Gainesville and immediately put their focus on the 2024 class and that’s for good reason–Bol is an elite talent at a position of scarcity. Bol is a 7’0” center and if you’ve been following the transfer portal not just this season but the year prior–you’ll know that there are nowhere near the amount of centers available to satisfy the wants and needs of high-major programs. Playing big is something that Golden has wanted to do at Florida and while they have used the transfer portal to bring in bigger frontcourt players for the 2023-24 season, he’d love a high-pedigree freshman with NBA upside to enter the mix.

Currently the 22nd ranked player in the 2024 class, Bol has looked the part of top-level college basketball stud for years. Everything suggests Bol is ready to contribute at the highest level of the sport from his reported 7’8” wingspan to go along with his 7’0” height to the powerhouse basketball programs he has already been a part of. Bol attends Sunrise Christian in Wichita, Kansas–a hoops factory that regularly churns out elite talents. He also plays for Mokan Elite on the summer circuit, also a prestigious basketball program known for four and five star players cycling through their doors. Bol’s exposure to elite basketball programs already, as well as his NBA-ready length and work ethic, makes him someone who is likely to contribute from day one at the college level.

Adding weight is going to be a priority for Bol, but as a 2024 player he’s got some time to add muscle onto his 190 pound frame. Despite being rather thin Bol can play the game with power, asserting the muscle he does have to push opponents out of the paint on rebounds and absorb contact on drives. Defense is currently Bol’s calling card, but he has some one or two dribble scoring ability when he catches the ball in the high post.

Bol has set his announcement for Saturday, June 10th at noon (he didn’t clarify the time zone–though he is currently playing basketball in Wichita, Kansas in the central time zone so that could be presumed). Most recently he narrowed down his list to eight programs–Florida, Texas, Missouri, Michigan, Wake Forest, USC, UConn, and Overtime Elite.

Florida is currently considered to be in a good spot here after pushing hard for Bol ever since the current staff was hired. There has also been recent buzz for Missouri who is coming off a year with a lot of success from their frontcourt.

This is certainly an announcement you’ll want to keep an eye on.
