Rain postpones No. 19 Gators and Hatters

For the second day in a row, it rained on the parade of the No. 19 Florida Gators baseball team.

After dropping a 3-2 decision in 5 innings to state-rival Florida State Tuesday when thunderstorms ended the game at the Baseball Grounds in Jacksonville, coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s 18-9 Gators hoped to start a new winning streak against Stetson at McKethan Stadium Wednesday evening. But the game was called in mid-afternoon because of inclement weather and rescheduled for Wednesday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game with the Hatters will be honored at the April 15 rescheduled game, which is also “Dollar Day” at McKethan Stadium.

Florida, which has swept its last two Southeastern Conference baseball series against Tennessee and Alabama, trails Georgia by a game in the SEC East Division race with a 6-3 record.

The Gators resume SEC play Friday night when it begins a three-game series at Charles Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tenn., against Vanderbilt (17-10, 3-6 SEC East). The game, which begins at 7 p.m., will be televised on FSN Florida.
