Photo Gallery: Florida Gators beat Georgia Tech 10-1

The Florida Gators swept through the Gainesville Regional with a perfect 3-0 record, beating Bethune Cookman Friday, Connecticut on Saturday and Georgia Tech on Sunday to advance to the Super Regionals.

The trio of wins pushed Florida’s all-time record in NCAA Regional play to 72-42 and advanced the Gators to its eighth Super Regional appearance (2004, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016) — the sixth under Kevin O’Sullivan.

Sophomore Alex Faedo took the mound on Sunday, earning the win and improving his Regional record to 2-0 (Faedo earned a win over FAU in 2015). Faedo was on his game Sunday, throwing eight innings of scoreless baseball with 10 strikeouts. The sophomore started 22-of-25 batters with a strike, winning his 13th game of the season.

Gator Country’s photographer David Bowie was at McKethan Stadium to take in the action and we now bring to you a photo gallery from Florida’s 50th win of the season.

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
