NCAA Tournament: Florida Baseball Selected as No.8 overall seed

Florida baseball was selected as the No. 8 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, as announced by the NCAA selection committee on Monday afternoon.

The Gators will be joined by No. 2 seed Miami, No. 3 seed Troy and No. 4 seed Rider in the Gainesville Regional.

The 2026 season marks Florida’s 20th as an NCAA Regional host and first since hosting three in a row from 2021-23.

Florida has hosted an NCAA Regional in 13 of 18 seasons under head coach Kevin O’Sullivan (excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 season), while also claiming a top-eight national seed for the 11th time during the O’Sullivan era.

With Vanderbilt missing the field, the Gators now own the nation’s longest active NCAA postseason streak at 18 consecutive appearances, spanning every completed season under O’Sullivan.

The Gainesville Regional is paired with the Hattiesburg Regional, where Southern Miss earned the No. 9 overall seed. The Hattiesburg Regional includes No. 2 seed Virginia, No. 3 seed Jacksonville State, and No. 4 seed Little Rock Trojans.

Should Florida win the Gainesville Regional (May 29–June 1), the Gators would host the winner of the Hattiesburg Regional in the Super Regional from June 5–7.
