Florida baseball sets TV schedule

Florida Gators baseball is set to receive more television exposure than ever.

The Gators, No. 17 in Baseball America’s preseason rankings, open the season with a three-game home series against Duke on Feb. 15.

The SEC announced its official 2013 baseball schedule for televised games on Friday. The Gators will have a total of 10 regular season games as part of the 70-game conference package. They also will be televised another 10 times on its regional network partner, Sun Sports/Fox Sports Florida.

In addition, every game of the SEC Tournament will be televised with the semifinals being broadcasted live for the first time.

It’s all part of the SEC’s plan to gain more exposure for baseball.

“Both the success and popularity of baseball in our conference continue to grow,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive in a release. “We are pleased to be able to offer an increased amount of television coverage of SEC Baseball to our teams and to our fans.

“This continues to move our baseball exposure to new levels and to a national audience.”

Florida also will appear on two of the eight Thursday Night SEC Baseball Games of the Week on ESPN, which was announced previously.
