Zinter excited about his Florida Gators offer

On Sunday, the Florida Gators sent out a new 2020 offer to an out of state prospect at a position of need.

2020 offensive lineman Zak Zinter (6-6, 300, North Andover, MA. Buckingham Browne & Nichols School) picked up the offer from the Gators on Sunday.

“Coach [John] Hevesy offered me,” Zinter said of the coach from Florida who offered him. “He did it through text because I was traveling doing an unofficial visit on Friday.”

Zinter who has ties to the state of Florida was very happy to get the offer from the Gators.

“I was really excited to get the offer especially since I’m a Florida boy,” he said on what the offer means to him. “We moved here from Florida six years ago for my dad’s job.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy has been keeping in touch with Zinter since the Gators paid the offensive lineman a visit earlier this year.

“He came out in January to see me and we’ve kept in touch since then,” Zinter said on the talks with Hevesy. “He’s told me I’d make a big impact on the line for them and that he thinks I’m a great for Florida at either tackle or guard.”

While Zinter hasn’t visited Florida yet, the offensive line knows a good bit about the Gators since he grew up in the state.

“Growing up Florida is all about football and I have followed Florida football through their ups and downs,” he said on what he knows about Florida. “I know they’re on the upside of building something good. I think it’s all positive and they’re moving in the right direction.”

Now that the Gators have offered Zinter, the offensive line is hoping to get to Gainesville for a visit.

“I’ve already made my spring visit schedule before the offer,” Zinter said on if he plans to visit Florida this spring. “But I’m definitely trying to make a visit possibly this summer.”

The Gators aren’t the only school recruiting Zinter hard as several other big name prospects are after the lineman.

“I have a lot of schools recruiting me hard,” he said of schools recruiting him hard. “I hear weekly if not more from Penn, Boston College, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Duke, Virginia, Nebraska and Northwestern, then I hear from multiple other schools as well. I don’t have any top schools yet, which is why I’m making visits to help figure it out.”
