Zanders reportedly enters transfer portal

Gators defensive end Dante Zanders has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

The redshirt junior from Boca Raton has played in all 12 games this year in a reserve role. He’s made six tackles, including half a sack against Florida Atlantic.

Zanders, who began his career known as “Dante Lang” before changing his last name prior to this season, started his career as a tight end. He appeared in just two games and redshirted in 2018. He played in all 13 games in 2019 but primarily on special teams, as he didn’t record any statistics.

He switched to defense prior to the 2020 season and played in the final 11 games of the season, registering five tackles and a quarterback hurry.

With his prospects for increased playing time next year not looking great and his career winding to a close, Zanders has apparently decided to seek a better opportunity somewhere else. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining at his next school.
