Wright likes the loyalty from the Florida Gators

Dan Mullen and his coaching staff hosted their first Friday Night Lights since returning to the Florida Gators on Friday night and several of their top targets were in town.

Running back Nay’Quan Wright (5-8, 185, Miami, FL. Carol City) was in attendance and worked out for the coaching staff on Friday.

“It was a blessing being back in the Swamp,” Wright said of his visit to Florida for Friday Night Lights. “Back on my feet showing the coaches that I still have it.”

Wright who missed his junior year due to an ankle injury was able to showcase his skills to Mullen and his staff on Friday and they liked how the running back has recovered from his injury.

“They were just looking at my sophomore film and they didn’t know how I was going to come back from my injury,” he said on what the coaches were telling him. “After performing today [Friday] they said they liked it and they’re still on me.”

This is the first time for Wright to be in Gainesville under Mullen but he has been to town before but the new coaching staff is what stood out to Wright on Friday.

“They show love,” Wright said on what he likes about Florida. “They are always communicating with me and checking up on me. What’s really big and stands out about them is through the injury, I was still hearing from those guys. Some schools backed away but they [Florida] didn’t.”

Despite this being the first time for Wright to be in Gainesville under Mullen, the running back has a good relationship with the coaching staff.

“The relationship is great,” he said on his relationship with the new coaching staff. “I hear from every coach on the staff, on the offensive side on the ball. I talk to Coach [Brian] Johnson, Coach [Cordell] Landers, Coach [Greg] Knox and I hear from the head coach.”

Running backs coach Greg Knox has explained to Wright what they like about his game post injury.

“From the tape he has seen he says he likes my speed, my vision, my balance and I’m able to play through adversity,” Wright said of Knox’s message.

After a good visit to Florida, Wright says that he’s still in the process of setting up official visits but he says the Gators will get a return visit.

“Not right, I’m trying to schedule one for my bye week,” he said on official visits.
